2024 theme is OUTER SPACE

Kids love creating and building, so whilst it is not compulsory we encourage activities that fit this theme.

Schools, Early Learning Centres, Clubs and groups, local businesses, and organisations working with young children place an expression of interest to support the event.

Become a sponsor, donate a prize, provide an activity and/or information booth, or add a flyer to the parent sleeves (600) or a promo item to the child bags (1000), decorate walking track squares or create 3D art based on the theme. Healthy food vendors wanted.

About Us

The first Little Kids Day Out was held in 2014. LKDO is a FREE annual community event held in the Gympie Pavilion building and grounds, Exhibition Road, Southside. The event is organised by a committee of local volunteers to connect families with services and promote the importance of the early years and parents role in supporting their child’s development.

With over three hundred local volunteers this free annual event aims to improve the early development of Gympie Region’s young children by providing information and connecting local families with service providers, support services, sporting clubs, schools, early learning centres, singing and dance studios and businesses in a fun play-based environment. The event includes over sixty FREE performances, activities & info stalls. BYO picnic lunch & water bottle or purchase from food vans. LKDO has a healthy foods policy and promotes drinking water.

Kids love to play

Playing with your child has enormous impact on their development. It is one of the most important things you can do. Research shows us that the quality of parental and carer interactions has a huge impact on a child’s development and school readiness.

Each year we see mums, dads, aunties, uncles and grandparents getting down and messy with their kids at over sixty FREE fun activities and the kids love it.
